Direction Program (Two Year Program) 2025-2027

This two year program begins after the Year of Discernment.

There are three foundational focal points for our spiritual direction training program (“three legs of the stool”).  All of the Direction Program curriculum components are geared to bring awareness around and provide opportunity for developing skills in one or more of these focal points.

  • Self-awareness/God awareness

  • Discernment

  • Prayer

Two Year Training 2025-2027 — Conference Style Presentations:

  • Conference One: Sept. 19-20, 2025 - Foundations for Contemplative Spiritual Direction

  • Conference Two: Feb. 4-7, 2026 - Foundations for Discernment and Theology of Spiritual Direction

  • Conference Three: May 15-16, 2026 - Prayer in the Context of Spiritual Direction

  • Conference Four: Sept. 18-19, 2026 - Discernment Models

  • Conference Five: Feb. 3-6, 2027 - The Director and Direction in Context, Culture and Community

  • Conference Six: May 14-15, 2027 - Where do we go from here?

Each conference is designed with the following elements:

  • Historical context and examples

  • Scriptural guidance for Direction

  • Practicum – multiple opportunities to observe, practice, and digest what is being learned

  • Opportunity to meet and have open conversation with guest faculty around the guest faculty’s ministry of Direction.

The program is designed to require the following:

  • Attendance at all conferences

  • Reading 5-6 books before each conference in preparation

  • Writing a reflection paper after each conference integrating reading, presentations and experience directing

  • Once a month supervision sessions

  • Your own work with your Spiritual Director


The cost of the program:

Tuition for the two-year program is $4,200 which can be paid in 6 installments of $700: each before one of the conferences. The tuition covers 16 days of instruction and practicum, supervision (16 sessions), refreshments & snacks, noon meals, two dinners, faculty resources, administrative costs, reprints, and other materials. Not included are overnight accommodations for conferences (if needed), fees for individual spiritual direction, and the cost of books you're required to read in preparation for each conference.
